Due to inclement weather conditions, there will be delayed reporting on Friday, Jan. 4 for all Holloman Air Force Base personnel. Alamogordo area and base residents will report at 8 a.m. Las Cruces, El Paso and mountain area residents will report at 12 p.m. Mid-shift workers overnight tonight, Jan. 3-4, will not report.

Please use extreme caution when driving in winter weather conditions, and exercise good judgment in choosing to drive during the storm.

The outbound lane of the west gate will be closed tomorrow morning, Jan. 4, to minimize traffic risk entering U.S. 70. For mission-essential personnel, the Child Development Center and Dining Facility will maintain normal operating hours. Non-mission essential civilian personnel will not be charged leave due to late reporting.

Each year, the New Mexico Museum of Space History and International Space Hall of Fame Foundation present their Community Service Award to a member of the community, not a museum volunteer, who has worked on behalf of the museum in an extraordinary way. On Dec. 26, museum executive director Chris Orwoll presented this prestigious award to U.S. Air Force Maj. Joseph Page for his outstanding work on the New Mexico Space Trail book.

"Every January at the annual volunteer dinner we give out several awards to volunteers for their contributions over the previous year. We're holding this event today because our recipient has been reassigned and won't be here for the dinner," said Orwoll. "This year we are honored to give the Community Service Award to Major Joe Page, late of the 4th Space Control Squadron at Holloman, for his work on the New Mexico Space Trail. His book will be out this spring, and he has generously given 100 percent of the royalties to the museum's founda
