A special program was held to observe Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month at Stout Field, May 9, 2012. In addition to a keynote speech by Josh Manlove, folk dancers performed to traditional music to bring their heritage to the Soldiers, Airmen and civilians who work at JFHQ.

During the National Guard Association of Indiana annual conference, Army National Guard Director, Lt. Gen. William Ingram, Jr., not only took time to deliver the keynote address, but visited training facilities at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center. Of the unusual facilities and capabilities, Ingram commented,"..Things can be done there that cannot be anywhere else in the nation."
