The Dix installation orginiated in 1917 as Fort Dix, named in honor of Maj. Gen. John Adams Dix, a veteran of the War of 1812 and the Civil War, and a former United States Senator, Secretary of the Treasury and Governor of New York. Dix has a history of mobilizing, training and demobilizing Soldiers from as early as World War I through the present day. In 1994, the United States Air Force Expeditionary Center was established as the Air Mobility Warfare Center on Dix.

Beginning Friday, Army Support Activity –Dix Soldiers and employees will have a new number to call when they need computer support. The Army Enterprise Service Desk (AESD) is a new Army-wide toll-free number — 1-866-335-ARMY (2769) — that provides a single entry point for Dix personnel to submit their information technology (IT) requests. It will replace the Network Enterprise Center Help Desk as the first number to call when encountering IT issues.
