100th CS warns of e-mail hoax

A recent e-mail hoax and virus was discovered to be ongoing in USAFE. HQ USAFE Cyber Surety and Postal communication is informing everyone of customers receiving hoax e-mails from the United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service  and Federal Express  that include a damaging Trojan virus embedded in an attachment.

The e-mails advise customers to open an embedded document to print a delivery notice required to pick the parcel up at the post office or to inform the company to deliver to their house in three business days. The attachment is an .exe with a Trojan virus. Information regarding the virus is available on the web. Since this month marks the seventh annual National Cybersecurity Month, we are strongly urging everyone to exercise sound cyber awareness.

Team Mildenhall to observe Halloween Oct. 31

Team Mildenhall will observe Halloween Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

During that time, 100th Security Forces Airmen  will be part of Operation Pumpkin Patrol and will "walk the beat" through officer and enlisted housing. All Security Forces personnel will wear reflective vests or belts and carry flashlights.

Enlisted and officer housing areas will be the primary locations for Trick or Treating this year. Those not participating in Trick or Treat activities, are advised to turn their front porch lights off.

RAF Lakenheath to host glow-in-the-dark golf tournament Oct. 29

The Breckland Pines Golf Course will be hosting a nine-hole scramble with teams of two Friday, Oct. 29, at 5 p.m..

Entry fee is $30 for members; $35 for non-members and includes golf, night golf  equipment, prizes and a chili and hotdog dinner following play. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m.

Sign up by October 23. Don't forget your flashlight!

Aviano welcomes 300 Airmen back home

Team Aviano welcomed back approximately 300 Airmen Oct. 4 and 6 from a four-and-a-half-month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Unlike many Air Force deployments in which individuals are deployed from various bases to be part of other teams in theater, an entire aviation package deployed with personnel from across the 31st Fighter Wing, but primarily from the Operations and Maintenance Groups.

During the deployment, the 510th Fighter Squadron "Buzzards" provided close air support to U.S. and coalition forces from May to September.

Flying is all in a day's work for Spangdahlem's F-16 Fighting Falcon pilots from the 480th Fighter Squadron, but during the three-week Operation Thracian Star combined weapons training deployment here, they are also diplomats.

In one of the biggest aircraft deployments the Bulgarian base has ever seen, the cooperation and partnership began even before the U.S. Airmen hit the ground.

Eight contestants competed in the Incirlik Idol final at the Club Complex here Oct. 7, 2010.

The Idol judges awarded first place to a group called 1-Sound that is comprised of two Incirlik members from the 39th Logistics Readiness Squadron -- Airman 1st Class Andrew Lomax, aka Lo-Max, and Airman 1st Class Joshua Davis, aka J-Wayne.

"There was a huge turnout at the club," said Dawn Parker, the Incirlik Club DJ. "All the contestants were so good and the event was so much fun. I'm just glad I could be the DJ for the event."
