Misawa Air Base is located in the northeast portion of the Japanese island of Honshu in Aomori Prefecture (approximately 400 miles north of Tokyo). Misawa is the only combined, joint service installation in the western Pacific. It houses three U.S. military services (Army, Navy, and Air Force), as well as the Japan Self-Defense Forces. The base is home to 4,343 U.S. military personnel, as well as 645 U.S. civilian employees and 900 Japanese national employees.
